We (me and my family) recently visited Takumi Japanese Restaurant, and for us, it easily earns its spot as one of the best additions to the city’s food scene. Newly opened and proudly under the Vikings Group, this place brings true Japanese craftsmanship right to Manila.
Backed by operators from Kyoto and guided by authentic Japanese culinary expertise, Takumi stays faithful to tradition, precision, and the warm spirit of omotenashi, the Japanese art of hospitality. True to its name, which means “master craftsman,” every detail here feels carefully considered, from ingredient selection to service.
What makes Takumi truly special? Their signature grilling cooking styles:
Warayaki – A dramatic straw-fire technique that sears ingredients at extreme heat, locking in juiciness while adding a subtle, aromatic smokiness. This is how their outstanding Tataki specialties are made.

We ordered a variety of dishes, and every single one was delicious, satisfying, and well worth the price. Beyond the food, the ambiance is lovely, cozy, refined, and even features nice private rooms perfect for corporate meetings, family meals and special gatherings.
