Yakiniku Bakufu: A Slice of Japan Hidden in Poblacion

If you are looking for authentic Japanese flavors wrapped in a cozy, intimate atmosphere? Let me take you to Yakiniku Bakufu, a true hidden gem Pagulayan Street, Makati City. Finding the place is part of the adventure, so keep an eye out for the restaurant facade below, it means you already arrived. you might missed it!

While they are famous for their premium Wagyu courses..

My husband and I decided to switch things up and experience their Shabu-Shabu Standard Course.

It was such a refreshing change and a delightful discovery for both of us. The team, led by a skilled Japanese Head Chef, is incredibly warm and attentive. The place is so cozy, relaxing to dine and the staffs a mix of local and Japanese who truly make you feel welcome.

And just recently they now accept walk-ins for their standard sets, though they also offer Premium and Exclusive options for those looking for an extra special treat.

An Authentic Taste of Japan

Since my husband has traveled to Japan before, he has high standards, and for me, it was my first time experiencing the real deal. Eating here felt exactly like stepping into a traditional dining establishment in Tokyo.

For those who aren't familiar, Shabu-Shabu is Japan’s beloved hot pot experience. You take paper-thin slices of meat and swish them ("shabu-shabu" means "swish-swish") in a simmering broth. At Bakufu, they use a classic cylinder-shaped pot designed to keep the broth at the perfect temperature.

What made the experience truly memorable? The Chef personally cooked and served everything right in front of us! Seeing the artistry behind the preparation was just as satisfying as the meal itself.

The Shabu-Shabu Standard Course (₱4,000 per head)

We felt that the price was absolutely worth it—not just for the quality of the ingredients, but for the entire immersive experience. Here is what we enjoyed:

The meat was sliced so thinly it melted instantly in the hot broth—pure heaven!

The Verdict

If you are searching for a romantic spot or simply want to escape into a private, Japan-like setting, Yakiniku Bakufu is the place to be. The food, the service, and the vibe were all commendable. We absolutely loved it and highly recommend you pay them a visit!
